In an earlier, much longer version of this post, which I redacted after giving it some thought - as it sounded too much as bitching of a sore looser, I put up enough info so that it could be inferred that the issue was about a certain contest held recently on fb for a certain convention held annually in PoznaĆ. I'm referring to this image: http://fav.me/d39rqaq. I'm not upset about losing, I'm upset that the criteria for winning were muddy, subjective and unprofessional. If I had known that my work lost due to not fulfilling some criteria clearly stated beforehand (e.g., lacking in creative quality, technical execution or whatnot) as in a typical design contest, I'd be okay with it. But as the only criteria was "subjective opinion of the judges" I feel rather irate about the whole thing. I mean come on, you saw the works that people put up there. Bilbo on a pony, a griffon and a poorly drawn Vimes in a woman's night attire? _Sketches_ of bug-cyborgs? Sketches from an emo's notebook? Those were the winning works. The works which got "honorable mention" were should've been chosen instead of any of the three mentioned above as they were far better.
Yup, I just checked the other pictures and there are some, that are way better than the ones that were chosen by the jury. I understand your irritation.
Would you link this unappreciated good illustration? I am intrigued.
