It's that time of year again a.k.a. symptoms of the Waldorf-StattlerSyndrome

Well, almost... Winter isn't shuffling its feet impatiently on the doormat and rattling the doorknob with its clammy hands while hordes of holiday-fever zombies, minds numbed with mall-muzak, trudge through the snow sludge... yet. That's still to come. For the time being Numb-vember is doing its best to drive me stark raving mad. Oh Cthulu! The grayness. The grayness... I was getting my morning nicotine-caffeine fix the other day and as my mind still went through POST sequence it hit me. The only thing lacking in the vista out the window was the hound of the Baskervilles howling silhouette looming menacingly on the moor. A side effect of that (the driving, not the howling nor looming ;) I have yet to get around is a complete and utter stifling of motivation to write the goddamn thesis. Perchance Monday will bring a fresh surge.
For the time being I'm re-watching the first season of "Millenium" as it fits the Novemberish mood like a satin glove. Dark. Depressing. Deranged. And with Lance Henriksen at his best.
Not that there haven't been upsides. Like a phone call from China a while ago. Or having been reminded of Philip Glass through a meme on fb and then staring down at the people in the atrium of a shopping mall going to and fro in Brownian motions with Koyaanisqatsi on the headphones. EDIT: Obviously the weather had to prove me wrong.
